Human Rights is a Double Edged Sword. Ain't It a B*tch?

Family, friends and colleagues are still mourning due the tragedy that happened in Maguindanao. They are done burying their dead but just like any loss the pain is still as painful as day one. Journalists rally the streets so that their cries for justice might be heard as majority of the victims are media men. Which is what I don't get really cause their profession has nothing to do with this horrible display of barbarism. They weren't killed because they're media men. The way I see it they are more like collateral damage. So what's the fuss about?

Matial Law has been declared last Saturday thus suspending the privilege of the writ of habeas corpus in Maguindanao alone at the moment and in some areas identified as bailiwicks. The very same Matial Law that we Filipinos condemned a couple of decades back. That is why a joint session of congress is happening this very moment. To question and to defend the legality and constitutionality of the said declaration is whats keeping our law makers busy today. I say, who cares? It's already in effect. Let it work to our advantage so that we could somehow bring some closure to the victims families and justice to those who have fallen in Maguindanao.

I'm watching the news as I'm doing this article and concerns regarding the Ampatuans wealth is now being questioned since Maguindanao is known as one of the poorest province in the country. "Lalayo ka pa? Dito lang sa Luzon Maraming ganyan eh." Why not freeze all their assets , conduct an investigation, and then try them in court so that it wouldn't look like we, the Filipino people are paying for their lawyers. That will be their next step right? Hire the best lawyers money can buy. "Para lang tayong iginisa sa sarili nating mantika pag nagkataon." It's so frustrating that something horrible like this has to happen before we realize the gravity of the situation. Well this is Philippine Politics at its finest ladies and gentlemen. Tsk tsk.

Although it's already sickening to see this on the news day in and day out. I just hope all this won't go away soon until justice has been served. I never thought that I'd have to say that but yeah. I'll be holding my breathe till the day all this will be over.
